Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) has signed to a sponsorship agreement with the Kansas City Current to sponsor the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club‘s stadium that is currently under construction in Kansas City, Missouri.
The agreement is a ten year deal and in addition to the stadium naming rights, CPKC will also see the outdoor gathering place at the stadium’s entrance named CPKC Plaza. This Plaza will be the home of the team’s store. CPKC is also investing in its community by working to renovate the STEM lab at East High School, the largest in Kansas City, located just four miles from the stadium. It will also be involved in the Current’s community initiatives.
The stadium is the first of its kind, stadium built specifically for women’s professional soccer and is expected to be opened in 2024.
The Kansas City Current are co-owned by current Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes, his wife Brittany, and Chris and Angie Long. The Current began playing in 2021 at Children’s Mercy Park, home of Major League Soccer club Sporting Kansas City, located in Kansas City, Kansas, before building their own stadium in Missouri.
Canadian Pacific Kansas City was formed on April 14, 2023 as a merger of Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern. The road is the only class one to operate in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. The company has its United States headquarters in Kansas City. The company is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
